CAERI Accelerates International Collaboration and Technological Innovation

2026-05-05

On April 23, the 2026 International Automotive Testing Technology Conference & Annual Conference of CAERI Automotive Index Technical Expert Committee (4th), hosted by China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CAERI), was held in Chongqing. Under the theme of "Global Vision, Harmonized Standard", the conference attracted more than 300 delegates from NCAP organizations worldwide and the domestic automotive industry. Liu Anmin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director, and General Manager of CAERI, and Wang Rui, Deputy General Manager of CAERI, attended the meeting.

Building Consensus, Boosting High-Quality Development of Assessment Technology

As a key platform for industrial technological exchange and collaborative innovation, CAERI Automotive Index Technical Expert Committee has been held for four consecutive years. This annual meeting further gathered industrial consensus and industrial strength to jointly promote the high-quality development of automotive assessment technology.

Ma Jijun, Secretary General of China Association for Consumer Products Quality and Safety Promotion, and Xu Haidong, Special Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, delivered speeches successively. They affirmed the role of the Automotive Index as a communication bridge for global automotive assessment technology exchanges, and emphasized the great significance of this conference in upgrading consumer product standards, deepening mutual trust between Chinese and foreign automotive industries, and achieving win-win cooperation.

In his address, Liu Anmin noted out that “CAERI has continuously deepened cooperation with international institutions such as Euro NCAP and ASEAN NCAP, bridging domestic and overseas markets through technical collaboration to support the global development of China’s automotive industry. Meanwhile, building on the Technical Expert Committee as a core platform, CAERI keeps innovating assessment technologies and refining the standard system, striving to build the Automotive Index into a benchmark project serving national strategies, a technical bridge connecting global markets, and a credible brand safeguarding public safety”.

Expanding the Expert Think Tank, Strengthening the Industrial Intelligence Foundation

Since its establishment in 2023, the Technical Expert Committee has continuously recruited experts from global industrial organizations, enterprises and universities, forming an international expert network covering Europe, America and Asia. Wang Rui conferred appointment certificates to the new advisory committee members; new members for CAERI Intelligent Safety Technology Committee (IVISTA) and Green & Health Committee (C-AHI) were also appointed at the conference.

Unveiling Core Achievements, Leading the Upgrading of Automotive Assessment Technology

The conference released three core technological achievements of the Automotive Index, including IVISTA China Intelligent Automotive Index Assessment (2026 Ver.) Protocol, a series of group standards for New Energy Vehicle Safety Test Specifications, and AC-HUMs — China's first independently intellectual property digital human model based on Chinese physical characteristics. Meanwhile, recommended models of IVISTA and C-AHI were released to provide references for consumers.

Deepening International Collaboration, Building Global Assessment Ecosystem

At the conference, CAERI established a Joint Validation Center with ASEAN NCAP, and launched the China-ASEAN Joint Research Center for Intelligent Connected Vehicle Safety with Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS). CAERI was also authorized as the official partner of ASEAN NCAP IVASA Intelligent Vehicle Safety Assessment Program. Green NCAP awarded CAERI the Laboratory Validation Certificate, making CAERI the first laboratory outside the European Union to receive such recognition. These achievements mark the deep integration of China's automotive assessment system with global standards, taking a crucial step towards rule interoperability, technical mutual recognition and achievement sharing between Chinese and overseas automotive industries.

Alongside deeper global partnerships, domestic industrial coordination has advanced significantly. China Healthy Automobile Industry Alliance (CHAIA) was officially inaugurated at the conference. Led by CAERI, the alliance was co-initiated by automakers including Li Auto, Xiaomi Auto, Xpeng Motors, Seres, BYD, SAIC Volkswagen, Geely Auto, NIO, Great Wall Motors, as well as Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center and Central South University. Focusing on collaborative innovation, standard co-construction, quality promotion and ecosystem co-creation, the alliance will build a healthy automotive industrial ecosystem covering "people-vehicle-environment" and lead the high-quality and healthy development of China's automotive industry.

Discussing Safety Assessment Technology, Empowering Industrial Globalization

In the keynote session, Chinese and foreign experts shared insights on low-speed collision research, ASEAN NCAP and other topics. The roundtable forum themed "Global Automotive Safety Assessment and Technical Collaboration" gathered industrial experts to conduct in-depth discussions on assessment system coordination and automakers' globalization, providing references for the upgrading of domestic automotive safety technology and the global development of the industry.

Three Special Sessions Held to Discuss the Development of the Automotive Industry

Three parallel industrial meetings were held concurrently.

1.Global Automotive Intelligent Safety Technology Innovation Conference: Technical experts from international NCAP organizations shared the latest updates of Euro NCAP and Latin NCAP. CAERI introduced the FASS in-depth accident investigation system and research progress of IVISTA assessment technologies. The Euro NCAP China safety excellence award ceremony and CAERI-Euro NCAP strategic cooperation signing ceremony were also held.
