After a four-year hiatus, one of the world's largest machinery events, Bauma CHINA 2024, was held from November 26 to 29 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China.
This year's exhibition, themed "Pursuing Light, Embracing Brilliance," covered a record-breaking area of over 330,000 square meters. With 3,542 exhibitors from 32 countries and regions and the participation of more than 700 international brands, the event exuded a global atmosphere. National pavilions from countries such as Germany, Italy, and Turkey made a grand appearance, showcasing their cutting-edge technologies and products while highlighting industry trends and market dynamics. Together, they contributed to a grand blueprint for the industry's future development.
Stefan Rummel, CEO of Messe München, delivered the opening address on behalf of the organizers. He expressed his delight, stating, “After four years, Bauma CHINA is set to make history again, reaffirming its significant role in the Chinese market. It serves as a bridge for Chinese companies to expand globally while facilitating international companies’ entry into China.”
Su Zimeng, President of the China Construction Machinery Association, also addressed the audience, saying, “Over the four days of the exhibition, we will witness the remarkable achievements of companies serving both domestic and international markets. We will also gain deeper insights into the new opportunities brought by China's high-quality economic development to the industry.”
On the morning of November 27, the exhibition hosted a Construction Machinery Market Exchange Conference. A delegation of global media outlets attended the event, focusing on the latest developments in China’s construction machinery industry. This gathering provided a platform for advanced global construction machinery enterprises to exchange ideas and explore the opportunities and challenges they face in the global market.
At this year’s exhibition, China’s XCMG showcased its focus on intelligent and eco-friendly heavy-duty products. Demonstrations included autonomous mining trucks operating 24/7 in open-pit mines, autonomous loaders applied across various locations, and clusters of unmanned rollers. These presentations highlighted the advantages of unmanned cluster construction solutions in terms of quality, efficiency, and safety, turning traditional manufacturing into "smart manufacturing." XCMG also centered on two core technologies—pure electric and hybrid—and displayed 48 "Green Mountain" products at the exhibition, accounting for 42% of its showcased lineup. Notable exhibits included the world’s largest all-electric loader, the XC9108EV, and the world’s first all-electric mining grader, the GR350EP, underscoring XCMG's leadership in the new energy sector and its role in driving the industry’s green, low-carbon transformation.
Compared to previous Bauma CHINA exhibitions, this year’s event featured significantly more Chinese products, which received widespread acclaim from attendees. Feyzi Nural, Sales Director of Odabasi Company, remarked, “In fact, we have already ordered 40 concrete pumps and tower cranes for export to Turkey and the Middle East. In the future, we will develop different product lines.” With the ongoing development of the global construction machinery industry, many renowned international companies trust that Chinese enterprises will continue to bring unique perspectives and innovative practices, delivering even more surprises and value to the world.
During the four-day exhibition, over 2,800 new products were unveiled, showcasing new models and emerging technologies. Bauma CHINA highlighted advanced products and cutting-edge technologies from leading Chinese construction machinery enterprises, helping to enhance the international influence of Chinese and Asian companies. Meanwhile, international exhibitors eagerly debuted new products tailored to the demands of the Chinese and Asian markets, accelerating localization efforts. This event has propelled the global machinery industry toward new energy transformations, digital and intelligent advancements, and sustainable green development.
